Gramvousa - Kaliviani

Balos – The lagoon of Balos is an area of outstanding natural beauty with shallow turquoise waters and white, and in some places, even pink sand. It was created when Crete lifted in the west by approximately 9 metres and tipped down in the east thousands of years ago. Reached by a daily boat trip from the port of Kissamos the journey there also includes a visit to the island of Gramvousa. Alternatively you can drive on an unmade road from the village of Kaliviani and walk the last 30 minutes down to the beach on a path.
